Our Vision
Language learning has transformed drastically over the years. At CC Lingo, we are constantly looking at new ways to effectively deliver language pedagogy. Our mission is to empower individuals and organisations with a modern twist on language learning. We aim to empower students and teachers with the skills they need to achieve their potential and reach professional and personal goals.
Teaching Philosophy
At CC Lingo, we believe that every student is unique. We all have our own learning styles and needs. We believe that there are five essential elements that are conducive to learning:
- The teacher’s role is to act as a guide.
- Students must have access to hands-on activity.
- Students should be able to have choices and let their curiosity direct their learning.
- Students need the opportunity to practise their skills in a safe environment.
- Technology must be incorporated in the curriculum.
Modern Twist
Textbooks are great… but it shouldn’t be the only tool in language learning.
What is unique about CC Lingo is that we combine modern technology and practical pedagogical techniques to create an informative, supportive and enjoyable learning environment. Each curriculum and material is designed to cater for learners of every level.
Our curriculum
We won’t teach you sentences on how to buy bread in China, we will teach you how to manipulate a sentence structure to create as many different Chinese sentences as you want and need.
Most traditional Chinese textbooks use short dialogues and passages to teach you how to make a conversation. Throughout my many years of teaching those textbooks, a very huge problem with those content is that the sentences used are too formal and honestly, quite outdated. The sentence that I use the most in explaining those dialogues to my students is: “..but no one really speaks like that in real life!” If you are looking to speak Chinese like a native speaker, in a way that people can understand you instantly because you are using common vocabulary and modern phrases, CC Lingo is your choice.
Practice makes progress
We are not aiming to be perfect, we are looking to make progress.
Let’s fast forward the part where we talk about how no one is perfect blah blah and go straight into talking about what progress means at CC Lingo. If you have ever studied in a group environment before, you’ll know that everyone learns differently and progresses at their own pace. We want students to focus on their own progress and look at how much they know now compared to how much they knew before starting classes. What you want is lifelong skills and knowledge (that you can still brag about and show off to your grandkids and great grandkids in the future).
